If you have not yet decided on a major, but have a general idea of which area you are interested in, choose your area of interest below:
Calculus
You will be able to decide between a stretch version of Pre-Calculus:
MATH 197 (Prelude to Calculus 1) in your first term, MATH 198 (Prelude to Calculus II) in your second term.
OR a single semester version of Pre-Calculus:
MATH 199, Pre-Calculus
OR straight into Calculus
MATH 226, Calculus
*If you are pathway 1 you have already satisfied the B4 requirement but, depending on how you satisfied the requirement, you may need further math classes for your major:
STEM majors need Calculus I (MATH 226). Please be sure to work with an advisor to ensure you register for this course if your AP score, IB score, or college transfer of credit did not count for college calculus.
General Biology B.A. majors can choose to take Math 199 Pre-calculus and Math 124 Elementary Statistics in place of Math 226 Calculus I. Again, check with an advisor to see which of these you have already satisfied, if any, with your pathway 1 status.
Go to the First-Year Math Advising page to help choose which is right for you.
Business Calculus & Statistics
You will be able to decide between a stretch version:
First Semester: MATH 107, Mathematics for Business Calculus I, Second Semester: MATH 108, Mathematics for Business Calculus II
Note: After you have completed MATH 107 & 108, you will need to take a statistics class as well.
OR one of the single semester versions:
Option 1: DS 110, Calculus with Business Applications
Option 2: MATH 110, Business Calculus
*If you are pathway 1 you have already satisfied the B4 requirement but, depending on how you satisfied the requirement, you may need further math classes for your major:
Please review your major requirements with an advisor to determine if you have additional Math courses required as part of your major. As a Lam Family College of Business major, you need to satisfy:
1.) A Business Calculus Course (DS 110 or MATH 110) and
2.) A Statistics Course (DS 212, MATH 124, or ISED 160).
Go to the First-Year Math Advising page to help choose which is right for you.
Statistics
You will be able to decide between a supported version of Statistics:
Be sure to visit the B4 pairing grid to sign up for matching math and support sections.
OR a stand-alone version of Statistics:
MATH 124 is the statistics course taught by the Math Department and it is the best preparation for your major's requirements.
*If you are pathway 1 you have already satisfied the B4 requirement but, depending on how you satisfied the requirement, you may need further math classes for your major:
MATH 124, Elementary Statistics, is required for your major. When you meet with an advisor, be sure to register for MATH 124 unless you have college credit for Statistics via a qualifying AP or IB test score--or a C- or better in a transferable college course.
Go to the First-Year Math Advising page to help choose which is right for you.

*If you are pathway 1 you have already satisfied the B4 requirement.
The most common class that is required is MATH 124.
You will be able to decide between a supported version of Statistics:
Be sure to visit the B4 pairing grid to sign up for matching math and support sections.
OR a stand-alone version of Statistics:
MATH 124 is the statistics course taught by the Math Department. You can see which sections are stand-alone here.
