Faculty are at the forefront of SF State’s student success efforts. As such, you are in a unique position to tell us when a student is struggling or thriving academically. The Early Progress Report program is set up to get students the support that they need to be successful in your class and in school in general as well as to help them build community. Our specific focus is as follows:
Campaign 1: Week 3-5
- Tutoring: Students who are attending and participating but are struggling with material.
- Advising: Students who have not attended at all, inconsistently attend, or disappeared after week 2. Or students who have disclosed non-academic issues who would benefit from connecting with on-campus resources.
Campaign 2: Week 10-13
- Tutoring: Students who are in the C-/D range and other tipping point students.
- Advising: Students who are no longer attending or engaged. Or students who have disclosed non-academic issues who would benefit from connecting with on-campus resources.
Tutoring
- Struggling with the material
Advising
- Discloses non-academic concerns
- Attending but not submitting work
- Missing classes
* If you are not certain which department is the best choice, please choose both!
Once you have submitted a progress report, the outreach begins.
- For tutoring Progress Reports: The staff at TASC call each student as well as sends an email. Once a connection is made with the student, the case will be closed which will automatically send an email to you with information regarding the student.
- For advising Progress Reports, an email appointment campaign is sent out immediately encouraging student to set up an appointment. If there is no response after the first week, a text is sent followed by a phone call the week after. If there is still no respond after the first three weeks, an email will be sent to you confirming that outreach has been initiated but no contact at that point. Further outreach will happen for the rest of the semester, if contact is made, the case will be closed will which send an automatic email. All remaining open cases will be closed at the end of the semester.
Please use the "Submit only marked students (but I'm not done)" button. This will only submit Progress Reports for the students that you marked as needing assistance and leaves the rest of your students available just in case you want to submit a Progress Report later in the campaign.
New this semester!
We will be closing all open cases from the first campaign once the second campaign starts. If there is a student from the first campaign that you are still concerned about, please submit a second progress report so we continue to reach out.
Spring 2025:
Campaign 1: Weeks 3- 5 (2/7 - 3/2)
Campaign 2: Weeks 11-13 (4/7 - 4/27)
Cases from either G4 campaign will be closed once contact has been made with the student. For the first G4 campaign, all cases still open will be closed when the second campaign begins. For the second G4 campaign, all cases still open will be closed at the end of the semester.
Progress Reports Syllabus Statement:
This course participates in the Progress Report program. The program allows faculty to easily connect you with advising and/or tutoring resources so that together, we, are supporting your academic success! As a result, you may receive an email from a professional advisor/counselor and/or from tutoring. The email will invite you to make an appointment. I strongly encourage you to take full advantage of our support resources that are waiting to help you succeed in this course.
