Your major requires a Statistics course

• If you have already completed a Statistics class at another University or received a 3 or higher in the AP Statistics exam, you may have already completed the Statistics requirement for your major.  Please email gatorsmartstart@sfsu.edu if this is the case.  
• If you satisfied your B4 with a non-Statistics class or AP score, you will need to take one of the Statistics classes offered at SF State in order to complete the major requirement. 

Now that you know what your major requires, lets start the module:

1. Open  the math module site. Be sure to open this in a new window or tab so you still have this instruction page available!
2. Activate the "Click to Log In" button.  You will need to activate your Duo Two-Factor Authorization in order to log in.
3. The first three pages are informational; read the information on each page and then click the next arrow.
4. The fourth page is regarding majors that require calculus, since your major does not require calculus, click the "No or Undecided" button then click the next arrow.
5. The fifth page is regarding Business majors, since your major is not one of the Business majors, click the "No or Undecided" button then click the next arrow.
6. The sixth page is regarding majors that require statistics, since your major is one of these majors, click the "Yes I plan on one of these majors" then click the next arrow.
7. The seventh page lists the majors that require a specific statistics course, check the list for your major.  If your major has a specific course listed, write it down then click the next arrow.  If your major isn't listed, there isn't a specific statistics course that you need to take so you can choose any of the options.
8. The eighth page lists all of the courses offered that can satisfy this requirement.  If there isn't a specific course that you must take, or if your major accepts multiple course options, read these carefully to help you choose a course.  Click the next arrow.  Please note: CSC 110 is not offered this semester.
9. The ninth page is informational; please read then click continue.  Please note: this semester, the 2 unit support classes are only available for MATH 124 and ISED 160.
10. The tenth page is where you will indicate which version of statistics you would prefer to take.  If your major requires a specific class, be sure to choose that one! Click the button of the course you want to choose then click next. Please note: this choice is not set in stone, if you decide to choose a different course during orientation (or if your first choice is full), you will be able to register in the new course.
11. The next several pages are questions about your preferred learning style, read each questions carefully, click your selected preference, then click the next arrow.
12. The final question asks about your pathway/category.  If you received an email from mkalus@sfsu.edu, it will include your pathway.  If you did not receive an email, please write gatorsmartstart@sfsu.edu with your ID number and request your math pathway.  Choose and click the appropriate button and click submit.
13. The page that comes up will have a recommendation on whether or not you should enroll in one of the support sections - this is just a recommendation based on your answers to the previous questions.  It is up to you if you want to follow the recommendation or not.  Click on the button that indicates the option you would prefer (with support or without support). Please note: this semester, the 2 unit support classes are only available for MATH 124 and ISED 160 if you have chosen one of the other options, you will want to select the non-support option.   There is an optional section to indicate why you made your choice.
14. Click on "Submit My Course Choice"
