The Economics Department recommends taking Calculus first. You have three options:
- MATH 110 - Business Calculus (taught by math instructors, typically more options available)*
- DS 110 - Calculus with Business Applications (taught by business instructors, typically less options available)*
- MATH 226 - Calculus (recommended for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in economics or related fields)
- If you completed a high school pre-calculus class with a B or better or a high school Calculus class with a C or better, you are eligible to register in Calculus (MATH 226). Click this link for help with completing the First-Year Math Advising module.
- If you have not met the above criteria, you will register for Pre-Calculus (MATH 199). Click this link for help with completing the First-Year Math Advising module.
*If you decide to take one of the Business Calculus options, follow these directions to confirm you plan to take one of the 110 options:
- Open the math module site. Be sure to open this in a new window or tab so you still have this instruction page available!
- Activate the "Click to Log In" button. You will need to activate your Duo Two-Factor Authorization in order to log in.
- The first three pages are informational; read the information on each page and then click the next arrow.
- The fourth page is regarding majors that require calculus, since your major does not require calculus, click the "No or Undecided" button then click the next arrow.
- The fifth page is regarding Business majors, since your major is one of the Business majors, click the "Yes, I plan on a business major" button then click the next arrow.
- The sixth page asks about your math category/pathway number. Chose Category 1 or 2 then click the "Continue" button.
- The seventh page confirms that you intend to register for either DS 110 or MATH 110. Please note: you will be able to register for either at orientation.
- Click on "Submit My Course Choice"
You are done with the First-Year Math Advising module!
