Your major does not require a specific math

This means you are eligible to take any B4 class that we offer at SF State.  Typically, students who do not need a specific kind of math choose to take one of the Statistics based options, but if you feel more comfortable with Pre-Calculus or Calculus, that is also an option.

 

Please follow these directions to help guide you through the module:

  1. Open  the math module siteBe sure to open this in a new window or tab so you still have this instruction page available!
  2. Activate the "Click to Log In" button.  You will need to activate your Duo Two-Factor Authorization in order to log in.
  3. The first three pages are informational; read the information on each page and then click the next arrow.
  4. The fourth page is regarding majors that require calculus, since your major does not require calculus, click the "No or Undecided" button then click the next arrow.
  5. The fifth page is regarding Business majors, since your major is not one of the Business majors, click the "No or Undecided" button then click the next arrow.
  6. The sixth page is regarding majors that require statistics, since your major is not one of these majors, click the "No or Undecided" then click the next arrow.
  7. The seventh page lists the three different versions of math that we offer.  
    1. If you would like to take a Pre-Calculus/Calculus course, choose that button.
    2. If you would like to take a Business Calculus course, choose that button.
    3. If you would like to take a Statistic based or other math, choose that button.
  8. Once you have made your choice click the "submit my choice" button.
  9. Whichever choice you make, the next several pages are questions about your preferred learning style, read each questions carefully, click your selected preference, then click the next arrow.
  10. The final page will have a recommendation on which version of math you should take - this is just a recommendation based on your answers to the previous questions.  It is up to you if you want to follow the recommendation or not.  Click on the button that indicates the option you would prefer.
  11. Click on "Submit My Course Choice"
