Pre-calculus

Since you have decided to take Pre-Calculus and are on pathway 3 or 4, you will have two options:

  • One semester, stand alone section: MATH 199 (3 units total)
  • Two semester stretch sections: MATH 197 in fall AND MATH 198 in spring (6 units total)

Follow these directions to choose which version is best for you:

  1. Open  the math module site. Be sure to open this in a new window or tab so you still have this instruction page available!
  2. Activate the "Click to Log In" button.  You will need to activate your Duo Two-Factor Authorization in order to log in.
  3. The first three pages are informational; read the information on each page and then click the next arrow.
  4. The fourth page is regarding majors that require calculus, since your major does require calculus, click the first button.  The one that says: "Yes, I plan on a science or economics major and plan to take PreCalculus" button then click the next arrow.
  5. The fifth page is informational, read the text and then click the "next" arrow
  6. The sixth page provides information about the two options.  Read carefully and then click the "Continue" button.
  7. The next several pages are questions about your preferred learning style, read each questions carefully, click your selected preference, then click the next arrow.
  8. The page that comes up will show which version the exercise recommends - this is just a recommendation based on your answers to the previous questions.  It is up to you if you want to follow the recommendation or not.  Click on the button that indicates the option you would prefer (MATH 199 or MATH 197/198).   There is an optional section to indicate why you made your choice.
  9. Click on "Submit My Course Choice"

You are done with the First-Year Math Advising module!
